Why?

Having really enjoyed the project of training for and completing the Marathon Des Sables in 2019 i was looking for an event that would fill the void and push me even further. The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge ticks all the boxes and will throw the team and i into a completely unknown environment where we can really find out what we are made of

What are you most looking forward to?

Joining up with three likeminded guys to complete what sounds like an impossible challenge

Biggest fear?

Capsizing in a storm at night whilst on the oars - a midnight dip in the Atlantic is not the dream

Why?

I entered the  Marathon Des Sables in 2019 looking for a challenge that would take me beyond a full day event and really test me physically and mentally. Unfortunately, during the training process i met Tom on a multi-stage ultra-marathon and ended up stuck with him for the preparation and then as a tent mate at the main event. Another tent mate had completed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge some years before and based on his retelling of their event i swore to never enter. Fast forward six months and Tom was on the end of the phone pestering me to form a team with him for the crossing. In the end i relented as i knew based on his performance in the Marathon Des Sables and other endurance events, he would need all the help he could get!

What are you most looking forward to?

A potential six pack...

Biggest fear?

Capsizing at night in a storm in the path of an on-coming cargo ship on cruise control and sharing a cabin with Tom.

Why?

In 2019, after stepping away from sprint-kayaking, I set off up Mount Kilimanjaro in search of a new challenge. After a successful summit experience and some would say a quarter-life crisis; it left me striving for something bigger and enhanced my desire to row the Atlantic and achieve something extraordinary. I hope to test myself to see how far I can push my body, both mentally and physically, in a race like no other. This will be my toughest endurance challenge yet, but I am hugely honoured to be part of this crew and to raise much needed awareness and funds for our special charity.

What are you most looking forward to?

Being part of a team again with a real purpose and having set goals to train for; the ocean sunrises and sunsets; and the adrenaline rush of surfing down waves (might regret saying that).

Biggest fear?

Colliding with a Blue Marlin…
